Punjab University announced that intermediate semester examinations for its affiliated colleges have been cancelled.

Students at Panjab University’s affiliated colleges will be promoted to the next academic year after evaluation as per the new module devised by the university.
As maintained by the module, the UG and PG results will be calculated by giving 50-50 weightage to internal assessment as well as performance in the previous semester. The module will also be applicable for pre-PhD students.
The HRD Ministry was intimated by the state government in order to inform that offline examinations in physical form will not be reasonable taking into consideration the regular rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Conducting examinations in offline mode will pose a threat to students and their families, and possibly risk a health hazard. This move by the state government was in response to guidelines issued by UGC that advised all universities to conduct all final examinations by September 2020.
The state government of Punjab also previously announced that female government school students from classes 9th to 12th will be provided with smartphones in order to facilitate online classes and digital forms of learning. This will help aid those students who are unable to purchase the means for attending online classes due to their financial constraints.
The smartphones will be issued and handed to students by Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of the state.
Schools across the state have been using different methods to compensate for the loss of tuition and classes amidst te Covid-19 pandemic.
